Handover ceremony of offshore search and rescue vessel SAR 631

On the morning of October 30, 2024, in Hai Phong, 189 Single-member limited liability company (189 LLC) and the Vietnam Maritime Administration solemnly held the "Handover Ceremony of the Offshore Search and Rescue Vessel SAR 631".

The ceremony had the participation of Mr. Le Do Muoi - Administrator of the Vietnam Maritime Administration, Mr. Ta Thanh Hai - Director of 189 LLC (Factory Z189), Mr. Tran Anh Duong - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Register, on the side of the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (Vietnam MRCC), Mr. Bui Van Minh - General Director of Vietnam MRCC attended the ceremony, as well as relevant agencies and authorities.

The project to invest in building 01 new specialized offshore search and rescue vessel, invested by the Vietnam Maritime Administration, will be put into operation to carry out search and rescue missions in offshore waters, the Spratly Islands and Paracel Islands, contributing to ensuring national defense, security and protecting the marine environment.

With a spirit of urgency and high determination, the direction and support of the leaders of the Ministry of Transport and the Departments under the Ministry, the project was completed in accordance with the provisions of the law and met all the conditions to hand over the SAR 631 vessel to Vietnam MRCC to add to the search and rescue fleet.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Administrator Le Do Muoi requested the Vietnam MRCC to fully lay out crew, operating and maintenance management funds to put the vessel into operation and use to promote investment efficiency to meet the set goals, in order to improve the capacity of search and rescue at sea. After the handover ceremony of the vessel SAR 631, Mr. Bui Van Minh, General Director of Vietnam MRCC emphasized that this is a significant project, not only for the maritime industry but also for the country and the people. The vessel SAR 631 not only helps improve the capacity of the maritime search and rescue force but also plays an important role in minimizing damage caused by accidents and incidents at sea, protecting people's lives and property. The General Director of Vietnam MRCC also expressed his deep gratitude to the Vietnam Maritime Administration and 189 LLC for completing the project on schedule and meeting quality standards, simultaneously committed to operating and maintaining the vessel SAR 631 most effectively to serve search and rescue operations.
