On May 25, 2024, in Hai Phong, Shipbuilding Company 189, in collaboration with the Vietnam Maritime Administration and the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (Vietnam MRCC), held a grand launching ceremony for the offshore specialized search and rescue vessel.
The vessel, which began construction in December 2022, has now met all conditions for launch according to schedule. It is 63.8 meters long, 10.2 meters wide, and 4.75 meters high, with a maximum speed of 20.5 knots. It is equipped with modern propulsion systems, maritime equipment, communication systems specialized search and rescue tools.
Upon completion, the vessel, expected to be named "SAR 631," will be handed over to the Vietnam MRCC to commence search and rescue operations. This vessel is set to become one of the most advanced search and rescue vessels in Viet Nam at the moment.
