Successfully rescued fisherman of M/v QNa 95489-TS

Vietnam MRCC directly received distress information from the Captain of fishing vessel QNa 95489-TS: while fishing in the Spratly Islands area at position 13⁰00’N – 113⁰17’E -Northeast 244 nautical miles from Nha Trang, there was 01 crew suffering from severe stroke, numbness of limbs with gradually worsening and life-threatening symptoms (Full name: Nguyen Tuan – year of birth: 1981). The Captain required urgent assistance.

Immediately upon receiving the information, MRCC regularly kept in touch with the fishing vessel to update the victim’s condition and provided medical advice. However, the crew’s health condition worsened, which could lead to a high mortality risk. Under the command of the National Committee for Search and Rescue of Vietnam (VINASARCOM), Vietnam MRCC dispatched SAR 273 on duty in Nha Trang to carry out the mission at 01:06 on September 15th, 2023.

At 11:00 the same day, SAR 273 approached the fishing vessel QNa 95489-TS and conducted rescue procedures. Despite bad weather and a far-from-shore distress position, the rescue team had overcome all difficulties and challenges with a drastic and tense spirit. After many hours of struggling with wind and waves, SAR 273 successfully rescued the victim.

After that, the crew Nguyen Tuan was safely brought to the port of Nhatrang MRCC and promptly transferred to the hospital for further treatment.
