At 3:37 p.m. on May 29, 2025, Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (Vietnam MRCC) received information from the vessel TIGER PIONEER(flagged under HongKong, with DWT of 63,462; length of 200 meters and width of 32 meters, belonging to YANGZIJIANG SHIPPING-SINGAPORE Company), on its voyage from Singapore to China, there was 01 crew member (Full name: Min Htaw Paing, born in 1997, nationality: Myanmar) who had suffered from a occupational accident, the paint solvent got into his eyes, causing loss of vision.
Upon receiving the information, Vietnam MRCC coordinated with the Nha Trang Coastal Radio Station to connect the vessel for medical consultation, but the patient's condition did not improve and showed signs of worsening. The captain of the TIGER PIONEER requested emergency support and to bring the crew member ashore for medical treatment.
Following the directives of the Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration, Vietnam MRCC requested the vessel to alter its course to Nha Trang and agreed on the rendezvous position for receiving the patient: latitude 12 degrees 07 minutes North; longitude 109 degrees 17 minutes East (off the coast of Nha Trang). The weather condition at the scene was: Southwest wind level 4-5, waves about 01 meter high.
At 8:00 a.m. on the same day, Vietnam MRCC mobilized Canoe CN02-TSA, which was on standby in Nha Trang, to conduct the rescue operations, accompanied by the vessel's agent: Vosa Nha Trang.
By 09:10 on May 30, 2025, CN02-TSA approached the vessel TIGER PIONEER, and the patient was taken to Nha Trang after being transferred to CN02-TSA.
At 10:15 on the same day, Canoe CN02-TSA docked at Nhatrang MRCC’s port, where the patient was handed over to the authorities and the vessel’s agent in Vietnam, as per regulations. The patient would be transferred to Saigon-Nha Trang Eye Hospital in Nha Trang for further medical treatment.
